Delivering a multi faith room refurbishment for Deloitte
Leigh DB were appointed to refurbish and fit out a new multi faith room at Deloitte’s Leeds office in 1 City Square. The project required careful strip out, structural works, specialist finishes and mechanical and electrical installations. All works were completed within the allocated programme and in budget.
Pre-works preparation
Before starting the main refurbishment, Leigh DB carried out essential preparation:
- Strip out of existing flooring, storage, shelving and plasterboard partitions
- Electrical survey to assess existing systems
- Removal and relocation of DBPP board
- Removal of pin boards and signage, with all walls made good

Fabric works and finishes
The refurbishment works involved transforming the space to Deloitte’s specification. Key tasks included:
- Decoration of all walls and skirting to Deloitte standard
- Installation of mirrors and acoustic wall panels
- Substrate preparation, new vinyl flooring and carpet installation
- Plumbing works for new water connection, integrated with existing drainage from adjacent toilets
- Supply and installation of bespoke joinery, including a shoe storage unit with vinyl seat pad and back, an under-sink unit with bin store and undermounted sink, a bespoke Corian worktop surface with foot wash station, and floating shelves
- Acoustic curtain track system and curtain, with ceiling strengthening and fixings
- Installation of two new FD30 certified fire doors
Mechanical and electrical works
Specialist M&E services were delivered to support the new multi faith room:
- Fire stopping works to the entire area
- Leak detection works
- Relocation of carbon monoxide detectors
- Installation of water heaters and wastewater pumps
- Floor access hatches for future maintenance of pumps and foot wash drainage
- Relocation of electrics and installation of new lighting and emergency signage
